Karl Nietvelt is S&P Global Ratings’ head of Research for Infrastructure & Energy. Besides, Karl is also a member of S&P Ratings sustainability strategic committee, overseeing ESG disclosures in credit ratings, and equally involved with non-rating products such as the ESG Evaluation and Green Evaluation.
Karl has over 20 years of expertise in the Power&Gas and Commodities sectors, as well as Infrastructure. Together with a team 12 industry experts across the globe, Karl works on key research focused on renewables, infrastructure and ESG and the energy transition.
Prior to his current role, Karl headed the Utilities and Commodities team in EMEA as Analytical Manager. Before joining S&P Global in 2000, Karl worked 5 years in banking in London in the field of Commodity Trade finance.
Karl has a Masters in Finance at ESSEC (Paris), combined with Engineering Degree from the University of Leuven (Belgium).
