Biographie

Lawrence Norton has served since September 2016 as the U.S. Treasury Representative to the EU.

Just prior to taking up this position, he spent five years at the International Monetary Fund. Most recently he was a Senior Economist in the Western Hemisphere Department, and helped design and monitor Haiti's credit facility with the IMF.

From 2011-2013 Lawrence served as an Advisor to the U.S Executive Director at the IMF, and helped to form the U.S. position on the large European IMF programs. Prior to that, was the desk economist responsible for eurozone and EU issues at the U.S. Treasury from 2008 until 2011.

He began his career at the U.S. Commerce Department, where he focused on international trade subsidy cases. Lawrence holds an Master's degree from Yale University, and pursued his undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University.
