Recent Developments in European Banking and Financial Services Law 2011

Objective
European financial regulation is at a crossroads: a raft of new EU legislation is now or will soon come into force and the Member States should adopt implementing measures. This seminar will provide legal practitioners with an in-depth analysis of the latest developments in banking and securities legislation as well as upcoming challenges for securities supervision and regulation.

Key topics
§  Current legislative developments in banking and securities legislation.
§  The role of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), its powers and functions and how it interacts with other authorities both at EU and national level.
§  Key legislative changes to securities regulation, in particular the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), the Transparency Directive and the UCITS Directive.
