06/07/2011
EIFR Panel at Paris EUROPLACE International Financial Forum on July, 6th to address financial regulation current priorities. To receive an invitation: contact@eifr.eu

TRADING & POST-TRADING: Priorities & Criteria for a Smart Regulation

This panel represents a mix of countries (European and US) and of natures of actors (regulators and banks): its objective is to contribute to a better understanding of priorities, issues and optimal ways forward from those different geographical or professional perspectives.
This panel will concentrate on issues related to trading and post trading, including market infrastructures.
The major issues to be addressed will be about the better compromise between the necessity of a coherent global regulatory framework and the pragmatic constraints of local surveillance. How to deal with this contradiction? How surveillance efficiency will be compatible with markets efficiencies and cost? How the new initiatives will in reality contribute to less systemic risk? How, in this context, Europe will accelerate its integration and harmonization?

- Mark GARVIN, Chairman Treasury & Securities Services, J.P. Morgan EU Ltd
- Robert OPHELE, Director General, Banque de France
